COVID-19 Service Update

Effective March 23, 2020: The (physical) Exam Centre at 255 McCaul Street is closed. However, should your student prefer to have their quiz, test, exam, or online assessment accommodations fulfilled in person, it is imperative they let us know by e-mail as soon as possible, and we will do our best to make arrangements for on-site assessment accommodations to be put in place.

Online Assessment Accommodations

Accommodation Process
Online Assessments

Provide your students with the following information at least two weeks prior to the assessment:

  • Assessment start date, time (e.g. Mon., Oct. 15, 8:00 AM)
  • Assessment end date, time (e.g. Wed., Oct. 17, 6:00 PM)
  • Assessment duration (60 minutes)
  • Assessment format (e.g. online)

Students who are registered with Accessibility Services opt-in to their accommodations on a per-assessment basis by registering with Accommodated Testing Services for each online assessment to which they require their accommodation plans applied. A minimum of 14 days' notice* is required.

If your student misses the accommodation registration deadline, they should contacted their Accessibility Advisor to discuss their options. Although accommodations are not guaranteed to late registrants, there is a process in place whereby students, through their Accessibility Advisors, can submit for Accommodtaed Testing Services' consideration a late request for quiz, test, exam, or online assessment accommodations.

Accommodated Testing Services contacts you by e-mail prior to each assessment for which one or more of your students have registered for accommodations to confirm specific assessment administration information (e.g. start date and time, end date and time, duration, and online platform). We request that you always reply to this e-mail as soon as possible.

Based on the assessment information that you submit, Accommodated Testing Services determines if the student's accommodation plan applies to the assessment. If yes, Accommodated Testing Services calculates the student's extended assessment duration and, when applicable, determines the student's alternate assessment date/time.

Please ensure that you provide Accommodated Testing Services with your online assessment administration information (e.g. start date and time, end date and time, durataion, authorized aids, etc.) at least two days in advance of the assessment. Even if the assessment itself is not yet ready, we require the assessment administration information prior to the assessment date to begin coordinating your students' accommodations.

If your assessment is time-limited, either you or Accommodated Testing Services applies the student's extended assessment duration and, when applicable, the student's alternate assessment date/time to their assessment.

  • Option 1: Accommodations Configured by Accommodated Testing Services
  • Upon request, Accommodated Testing Services will configure your students' accommodations in Quercus Quizzes or Quercus Assignments on your behalf. Publish the assessment in Quercus at least two business days in advance, and we will take care of applying your students' accommodations.

  • Option 2: Accommodations Configured by Instructor
  • If you opt to configure your students' accommodations yourself, Accommodated Testing Services will inform you of each authorized student's name and the accommodations to apply to their assessment. Accommodated Testing Services staff are available to answer any questions that you may have about online assessment accommodations and configuring them in Quercus Quizzes or Quercus Assignments.

Accommodated Testing Services informs the student that their extended assessment duration and/or alternate assessment date/time have been applied to their assessment.

On the assigned date and time, the student completes the accommodated assessment online.
